Background of the ASME Code

The ASME (American Society of Mechanical Engineers) was founded in 1880. Products are marked by stamping the manufacturer's name plate, referred to as the “ASME stamp”. This certifies that your products and services meet the ASME requirements, giving the operator of these components the peace of mind that comes from meeting stringent safety standards.

Specifically, the ASME Code stipulates requirements concerning:

  • manufacturer approval
  • quality assurance
  • design
  • material selection
  • production, testing, inspection and certification of power boilers, heating boilers, pipes and pressure vessels
