For all driving students and driving schools: TÜV Hessen is your partner for the driving license test in Hesse.
Conditions for registration
Before your driving school can register you for the theoretical (written) driving test, the following requirements must be met:
- Application for a driving licence at the responsible driving licence authority or driving licence office
- Attending the legally required number of theoretical lessons at your driving school
Theoretical test
At the test date we need the following documents from you:
- Identity card or passport (mandatory for applicants from countries outside the EU)
- Certificate for the theory lessons attended by your driving school (if required)
You can take the theoretical exam at one of our more than 30 locations in Hesse - certainly there is one in your area. We offer the exam in the following languages: German, English, French, Greek, High Arabic, Italian, Croatian, Polish, Portuguese, Romanian, Russian, Spanish and Turkish.
Advice
Try to arrive on time, rested and without rush to the appointment. If you pay the inspection fee yourself, think of sufficient money or your Giro Card. After we have checked your identity using your ID card, the examiner briefly introduces the procedure of the exam. You answer the questions on a computer. As soon as you have submitted the questionnaire, we will evaluate your answers and you will receive your result directly on the screen. If you have passed the test, you will receive your results protocol, which serves as proof for your driving school and yourself that you have successfully passed the theoretical driving test.
Practical test
You have passed the theoretical test, completed your practical training at your driving school and reached the minimum age - then your driving school can register you for the practical driving test at TÜV Hessen. Our tip: practice with your driving instructor under examination conditions in the last driving lessons before the appointment.
The following things you should bring with you to the practical examination:
- Identity card or passport (mandatory for applicants from countries outside the EU)
- Training certificate from your driving school as confirmation of the practical minimum training
- If required: glasses or contact lenses!
Advice
As with the theoretical test, you should be rested and on time at the agreed location for the practical test. The TÜV Hessen examiner will introduce himself to you there. Then adjust yourself in the driver's seat (adjustment of interior and exterior mirrors, distance between seat and steering wheel, backrest inclination, headrests, use of seat belt). The test itself takes approx. 55 minutes and the driving distance is specified by the examiner.
